Το Εθνικό Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης εγκαινιάζει τη συνεργασία του με το διαδικτυακό Streaming Museum, με έδρα τη Νέα Υόρκη, με την online έκθεση CROSS-KOREA: Come Join Us, Mr. Orwell!

Η έκθεση CROSS-KOREA : Come Join us Mr. Orwell!

Tο πρώτο μέρος, με τίτλο "Film and City: Seoul landscape, from Kyungsung to Seoul", σε επιμέλεια του Korean Film Archives, παρουσιάζει αποσπάσματα από κορεατικές κινηματογραφικές ταινίες της περιόδου 1930-1960, μέσα από τα οποία φαίνεται ο θαυμασμός αλλά και οι αντιδράσεις της κορεατικής κοινωνίας απέναντι στο μοντέρνο.

The National Museum of Contemporary Art inaugurates its collaboration with the Streaming Museum, based in New York, with the online exhibition CROSS-KOREA: Come Join Us, Mr. Orwell! The exhibition presented at EMST from the 1st of September to the 18th of October will be one of the stations of its transcontinental journey to the 7 continents.

Streaming Museum is a new hybrid museum that presents multi-media exhibitions in cyberspace and public spaces on 7 continents. Launched January 29, 2008 by Nina Colosi, the museum is produced and broadcast in NYC, with exhibitions generated in collaboration with international cultural, educational, and public centers. Streaming Museum is conceived as a source of free cultural content and public service messaging on the environment, education and health, accessed via internet and in high visibility public locations.

The exhibition CROSS-KOREA: Come Join Us, Mr. Orwell! consists of three parts and is co-organised by three Korean cultural institutions: Korean Film Archives, Nam June Paik Art Center, and Art Center Nabi. It presents a selection of Korean moving image (cinema, video and cgi) of the period 1930-2009 from Korean cinematographers, videoartists and media artists, and it is realized in the framework of the opening of “Tomorrow City”, a digital city in Incheon, Korea, aiming at supporting new networked and participatory art forms.

The first part, titled "Film and City: Seoul landscape, from Kyungsung to Seoul", curated by the Korean Film Archives, presents excerpts from Korean movies filmed in the 1930s-1950s, illustrating the fascination and resistance against the modern period.

The second part is a selection of videos from Nam June Paik Art Center titled "Nam June Paik: Electronic Performance". This selection consists of videos created by Paik, using the Video Synthesizer, his invention that allowed him to manipulate and superimpose video images, often made in collaboration with other important artists of his era, like, among others, Joseph Beuys, Allan Kaprow, David Bowie and Allen Ginsberg.

The third part of the exhibition, with the title "Digilog(ue)", curated by Art Center Nabi, consists of recent works by the exceptional Korean media artist Kim Joon, Hansol Huh. Joo Myoung Song, and Keryoon Han.
